Oxford County staff are responding to a temporary water service interruption in Mount Elgin.

The Mount Elgin water distribution system experienced a loss of water pressure this afternoon but water pressure has since been restored. The County is in the area now flushing the water distribution system as a precaution.

Southwestern Public Health is advising residents to flush their taps as a precautionary measure. To flush your taps:

  • Turn on a cold water tap not connected to a water softener or filter and let it run for approximately three (3) to five (5) minutes.
  • If your water is discoloured, continue running water, allowing sufficient time for it to clear. Do not drink discoloured water.

Any further updates will be shared at www.oxfordcounty.ca and on Oxford County’s social media sites.
