Oxford County offers Commissioner of Oaths services for documents such as affidavits and statutory declarations. Commissioner of Oaths services are available during regular business hours, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, at the Oxford County Administration Building at 21 Reeve Street, Woodstock. We accept cash, credit and debit.

We strongly encourage declarants to make an appointment for commissioning services to ensure that a commissioner will be available. When booking your appointment, please describe your document to one of our commissioners to make sure it is one we are authorized to sign.

To book an appointment with our Customer Service Department please send an e-mail or call us at 519-539-9800 x 3915.

A Commissioner of Oaths is not the same as a Notary Public. If your document requires the signature of a Notary Public or you require certified true copies of a document, you will need to contact a private lawyer or a Notary Public, as the County does not provide these services.

Requirements

The person(s) taking the oath (swearing that the contents of the document are true) must:

  • Sign the document in the presence of the Commissioner
  • Present an original piece of government issued photo identification including the deponent’s signature e.g., a valid driver's licence, passport, etc. (copies are not accepted)
  • The document must be complete before signing - no information can be added after the Commissioner has signed and stamped the document
  • A fee of $15.00 must be paid at the time of commissioning
