For invasive plant species (Phragmites) roadside control program

Oxford County will be applying pesticide within the road allowance along rural roadsides to control the invasive plant, Phragmites.

The pesticide application will take place in the Townships of Blandford-Blenheim, East Zorra-Tavistock, Norwich, South-West Oxford, Zorra, Town of Tillsonburg, Town of Ingersoll and the City of Woodstock. Oxford County will be using the following pesticides registered under the Pest Control Products Act (Canada). 

  • ARSENAL PowerLine Herbicide
    (PCP Registration No. 30203), which contains the active ingredient Imazapyr, present as the isopropylamine salt
  • VisionMAX Silviculture Herbicide
    (PCP Registration No. 27736), which contains the active ingredient Glyphosate, present as potassium salt

This work is being completed under the Public Works Exception to the Cosmetic Pesticides Ban for the promotion of public health and safety.
Pesticide application will take place on the following Oxford County rural roads: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30, 33, 34, 36, 37, 40, 45, 46, 55, 59, 60 and 119.

Pesticide application is scheduled to begin on August 19, 2024 and end on October 11, 2024.

The commencement date is approximate and weather permitting. Additional information regarding the Phragmites control program is available on the Oxford County website at www.oxfordcounty.ca/phragmites.
