Oxford County supports Pride Month
Oxford County Warden Marcus Ryan will raise the flag for Pride Month on Thursday, June 1 at 8:30 a.m. at the Oxford County Administration Building at 21 Reeve Street in Woodstock. Members of the community are invited to join.
Oxford County Council officially declared June as Pride Month at the May 24 Council meeting.
Oxford County supports Pride Month and is committed to building inclusive, diverse, and safe spaces for all.
Warden’s Challenge: On April 28, Warden Marcus Ryan challenged elected officials and community leaders to show that everyone belongs in Oxford by issuing his video challenge to join him at Pride Family Day. Family Pride Day takes place on Saturday, June 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Museum Square in Woodstock: come out to show your support for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Progress Flag: The Pride Progress Flag will fly outside of the Oxford County Administration Building for the month of June.
Drag Queen Storytime: Oxford County Library will host Drag Storytimes on Saturday, June 10 at the Ingersoll Public Library at 11:00 a.m. and Tillsonburg Public Library at 2:00 p.m. Oxford County Library is also partnering with Woodstock Public Library for a Drag Storytime at Pride Family Day on Saturday, June 17 at 11:30 a.m.
Throwback Thursdays: Every Thursday in June, Oxford County Archives’ weekly Throwback Thursday posts will be dedicated to the history of Pride and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Oxford County.
Rainbow Registered: Tourism Oxford is a Rainbow Registered Certified organization. To be Rainbow Registered is to be a nationally accredited 2SLGBTQI+ friendly business or organization. Tourism Oxford also helps local businesses obtain this certification.
Diversity in Paramedicine: Oxford County celebrated National Paramedic Services Week from May 21-27 and the theme this year was “Diversity in Paramedicine – The Patient. The Provider. The Profession.
Safe Space Stickers for staff: Oxford County’s internal Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Task Force is offering “safe space” stickers to County employees so they can visibly display support for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
