Oxford County seeking feedback on funding for rental units in residential homes
“My Second Unit” program will help homeowners become landlords with grants of up to $15,000
Oxford County wants to hear from homeowners interested in building and renting a self-contained dwelling unit inside their home with the help of up to $15,000 in municipal funding.
Feedback from potential landlords on the “My Second Unit” program will help the County plan how the program is designed and delivered. Interested residents can have a say by visiting Speak Up, Oxford! at www.oxfordcounty.ca/speakup to fill out a short survey, email comments, or to find out how to take part in the live webinar on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 6:30 p.m.
For homeowners, rental income from a second unit can help with household expenses, contribute to savings, or make home ownership more feasible. For communities with a low rental vacancy rate, like Oxford County, secondary units can also help address a shortage in housing options.
