For the first time in Oxford County, the Pride Progress flag is flying at all eight area municipalities during June’s Pride Month.

Oxford County Pride logoFor the first time in Oxford County, the Pride Progress flag will fly in all eight area municipalities during Pride Month in June. Oxford County Warden Marcus Ryan will join Oxford County Pride and mayors and councillors at each of the municipal flag-raising ceremonies on Friday, May 31.

Members of the community are invited to join Warden Ryan and Oxford County Pride at the flag raising at the Oxford County Administration Building, 21 Reeve Street in Woodstock, on May 31 starting at 8:00 a.m. The full schedule of flag raising ceremonies follows below: 

  • 8:00 a.m. Oxford County – Oxford County Administration Building, 21 Reeve Street
  • 8:30 a.m. City of Woodstock - Museum Square, 472 Dundas Street
  • 9:30 a.m. Blandford-Blenheim - Township Building, 47 Wilmot Street S. Drumbo
  • 10:30 a.m. East Zorra-Tavistock - Township Office, 89 Loveys Street E. Hickson
  • 11:30 a.m. Zorra Township - Township Office, 274620 27 Line, Ingersoll
  • 12:00 p.m. Town of Ingersoll - Dewan Park, 98 Thames Street S. Ingersoll
  • 2:00 p.m. South-West Oxford - Township Office inside council chambers, 312915 Dereham Line, Mount Elgin
  • 3:00 p.m. Town of Tillsonburg - Broadway Parquette, Tillsonburg
  • 4:00 p.m. Norwich Township - Norwich Community Centre, 53 Stover Street E. Norwich.

Oxford County supports Pride Month and is committed to building inclusive, diverse, and safe spaces for all. Our Pride Month activities include the following.

  • Oxford County Flies It Pride Colours: Warden Marcus Ryan was a recent guest on the municipal affairs podcast, Cross Border Interviews, to talk about Pride Month in Oxford County and share his message that in Oxford County, everyone is welcome, everyone is celebrated, and everyone belongs. Listen to the interview   
  • Pride Family Storytime at Oxford County Library - Tillsonburg branch: Come celebrate Pride Month with Oxford County Library at a staff-led, interactive storytime, colourful crafting party, and photo booth. Inclusive fun for the whole family on Saturday, June 8, at the Tillsonburg branch at 10:00 a.m. Registration is not required.  
  • Pride Family Fun Day at Oxford County Library - Ingersoll branch: Join the Oxford County Library staff at the Ingersoll branch for oversized games, crafts and button-making for the whole family on Saturday, June 8. At 1:00 p.m. the library will be screening the “Small Town Pride” documentary in partnership with Oxford County Community Health Centre. Registration is not required.

  • Oxford County Archives: Follow the Oxford County Facebook page and the Oxford County Archives Instagram page in June for posts dedicated to the history of Pride and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Oxford County.  
  • Rainbow Registered: Tourism Oxford, a Rainbow Registered Certified organization, continues to help local businesses attain this nationally accredited 2SLGBTQI+ friendly designation.
