Oxford County has awarded a contract to rehabilitate bridge #174259 on Oxford Road 45, between Putnam (Hamilton Road) and Road 60, to Theo Vandenberk Construction Ltd. of Denfield, Ontario. The work includes complete deck replacement and restoration works as required.

Construction is scheduled to begin on April 3, 2023 and anticipated to be completed by October. Construction schedules are weather dependent and subject to change based on contractor availability and other operational demands.

Oxford Road 45 Closed from Putnam (Hamilton Road) to Road 60

Bridge 174259 crosses the Thames River on the boundary of the County of Middlesex/Oxford County approximately 1.2km north of Putnam, and 200m south of Road 58. To complete the required work, Oxford Road 45 from Road 60 to Putnam (Hamilton Road) will be closed beginning April 3rd, 2023 for throughway traffic. Access to this Section of OR45 will be limited to local residents, businesses, and emergency services as vehicles will be unable to cross the bridge for the duration of construction.

The contractor will be required to maintain access as best as possible to all properties. Some short-term interruptions and delays can be expected during this work.

In consultation with the County of Middlesex, as well as the Municipality of Thames Centre, and the Township of Zorra, a detour route including applicable signage is planned to the east of OR45 using Line 25 for traffic conveyance during construction.

Garbage and recycling

For the duration of the road closure, residents living in the impacted areas are asked to please have your regular household waste and recyclables to the roadside by 7 a.m. on Mondays. Residents south of the bridge who currently have waste collection on Tuesdays, will have garbage collection switched to Mondays for the duration of the road closure.

The Contractor will collect your bins and containers and take them to a central location for collection. Homeowners are asked and encouraged to mark garbage and recycling containers with their house number so they can be returned to the correct properties.
