New signs encourage visitors to “Love Downtown Woodstock”
“Love Downtown Woodstock” signs are now installed in the City of Woodstock as part of an attraction collaboration by the City of Woodstock, the Downtown Woodstock BIA, and Tourism Oxford.
Drawing on a $70,000 grant from Ontario Modernization Funding received by Tourism Oxford, the “Love Downtown Woodstock” bollard wraps are designed to encourage exploration of downtown through QR codes that can be scanned by a mobile device, pointing people to local attractions, Woodstock’s business directory, and visitor information at www.tourismoxford.ca. The signage also provides links for people interested in moving to or doing business in Oxford County.
Tourism Oxford’s is using its Government of Ontario modernization funding for other interactive sign projects that seek to engage with visitors and encourage people to explore locations across Oxford County and make repeat visits. In 2022, these funds were used to install signage for self-guided walking tours for the Oxford County Courthouse and other downtown heritage tours.
The bollard sign wraps in Woodstock help advance the City of Woodstock’s commitment to sustaining and improving the downtown through five key strategic directions in the Downtown Development Plan:
- The Business Recruitment and Retention Plan
- Beautify the Downtown
- Clarify and Enhance Policies
- Change the Perception of the Downtown
- Celebrate and enhance culture
