New! Bag tags now available through the Wasteline app
Oxford County residents can now purchase bag tags for curbside waste collection through the Wasteline app using a smartphone or other handheld device.
Bag tags are available in sheets of 10 for $20, with an option to purchase between one and five sheets at a time. Payment is by Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay, with shipping via Canada Post.
The Wasteline app, launched in 2015, helps residents keep track of garbage and recycling schedules and special waste collection days, like large item pick up, offering automated reminders by text, email, phone, or Twitter messages. Residents can also use the app to figure out "what goes where," to report collection issues and for helpful tips and updates. The app is available FREE on Google Play or the App Store.
The $2 bag tag fee funds the total cost of the curbside garbage collection program. It can also reduce individual costs by rewarding residents who reduce how much packaging they throw out and choose reusable, recyclable, and compostable materials.
As always, bag tags are also available for purchase online and at select retail locations across Oxford County. For more information, including a full list of retail outlets, please visit www.wasteline.ca/bagtags.
Bag tag prices ($2 each) are the same online, via the app and at retail locations. Bag tags are HST-exempt, and vendors are not permitted to charge more than $2 per bag tag. Additional service fees when paying by debit or credit card may be applied in accordance with store policy regarding minimum purchases. Residents should notify Oxford County if a retail vendor overcharges for bag tags.
