Black History Month in Oxford County
Every February, people across Canada celebrate Black History Month to honour the enormous contributions Black people have made and continue to make in all sectors of our society. This year’s theme is: “Black Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate; a Future to Build.” It’s an opportunity to celebrate the resilience, innovation and determination of Black people as we listen, learn and foster greater understanding and compassion in our everyday interactions.
Oxford County’s new Strategic Plan strengthens its commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The following activities are offered this month by County programs.
- February 3: Join Oxford County Archives for Museum London’s Black History Month opening ceremony from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. The Archives will showcase archival records and stories related to Oxford County’s Black heritage alongside local historian Heather Rennalls and the Norwich and District Museum and Archives.
