Homelessness response strategy
County Council will review a proposed outline for developing a homelessness response strategy next Council meeting. Oxford County will work with SHS Consulting through a public consultation process, research, and development of a broad, long-term strategy for achieving “100% Housed,” with a focus on support for people experiencing homelessness.

Provincial funding for homelessness prevention
An update on Oxford County’s share of provincial funding for homelessness prevention is also before County Council next week. Oxford County will receive $2.92 million from the Homelessness Prevention Program over 2024 and 2025, supporting local community outreach services, housing assistance, supportive housing, and emergency shelter. The funding also supports data collection for the provincially mandated By-Name List of people experiencing homelessness in Oxford County, a program that improves understanding of the needs of people experiencing homelessness in our communities and the ability to better connect them to local services and supports.
