At this time, Oxford County is optimistic that we will be able to hire summer students for 2021, and therefore we are going to begin our summer student recruitment. Oxford County will be continuing to take steps to support our community’s response to COVID-19  and measures taken by Southwestern Public Health, so if there are any changes required for our summer student recruitment, this webpage will be updated and all candidates who have been contacted will be notified.

The County of Oxford will be accepting electronic applications beginning mid December until Friday, March 12th at 4:00pm. Summer employment opportunities begin around the end of April until the end of August. Please read the requirements below and send completed cover letters and resumes to hr@oxfordcounty.ca. We thank all applicants for their interest, however only those candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.

To apply for any summer student positions, you must be:

  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • Currently enrolled in full-time studies in a post-secondary program
  • Returning to a full-time post-secondary program in the fall of 2021.

Returning Students

If you are a student who previously worked for Oxford County and still meet the criteria above, please send an email to hr@oxfordcounty.ca with the following information:

  • Your first and last name
  • The department that you worked in and the name of your previous supervisor
  • If applicable - Do you still have an acceptable driver’s abstract?
  • Are you interested in returning to the same position you previously had?

Returning students will receive a follow up email from Human Resources.

Available Departments

There are a variety of Departments who are looking to hire summer students for 2021, so please read the below carefully and only apply for the positions that are of interest to you.

Public Works

Wastewater Treatment
Wage: $16/hr

  • Location: Woodstock and Ingersoll
  • Shifts: Monday-Friday, 7:30a.m. - 3:30p.m.
  • G2 or G driver’s licence required (and an acceptable driving record)
  • Wastewater Treatment Operator in Training Licence is an asset, but not required.
  • Job duties: Working in Wastewater Treatment operations and assisting staff with daily tasks including plant operations, lab work and maintenance. Performing maintenance duties such as hosing of tanks/weirs, cleaning and painting buildings, and aiding plant Maintenance staff. Comfortable using Microsoft software, including Excel, Word, etc. Working indoors and outdoors required

Students are welcome to apply for more than one position in the same email. Additional positions will be posted if they become available. If you are applying for a position that has a driver’s licence requirement, please include in the body of your email which licence you have, and if you have a clean driver’s abstract.
