Oxford County hosts Taipei Economic & Cultural Office

Delegation in town for filming of "150 Years of Friendship," a video project commemorating the 150th anniversary (in 2022) of Rev. George Leslie Mackay's arrival in Taiwan

Oxford County hosted the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office today for filming of "150 Years of Friendship," a video project commemorating the 150th anniversary (in 2022) of Rev. George Leslie Mackay's arrival in Taiwan.

Oxford County and Tamsui, Taiwan, have an enduring cultural and economic relationship founded on  the work of Rev. Mackay, a native of Zorra Township who was the first Presbyterian missionary to northern Taiwan. Rev. Mackay is regarded as a national hero in Taiwan for his work in building schools, chapels and a hospital, among other contributions.
