Some Oxford County services are making interim changes in response to Ontario’s temporary move to Modified Step Two of the Roadmap to Reopen, effective January 5, 2022. This includes returning to curbside service for Oxford County Library branches and virtual service for Oxford County Archives, closing the Waste Management Facility on Saturdays, and pausing general visits and social outings at Woodingford Lodge.

Human Services establishes Emergency Child Care in Oxford County 

Oxford County Human Services worked with the Ministry of Education to establish emergency child care for essential workers following the province’s decision to close all elementary and secondary schools, publicly-funded and private, for in-person learning. A complete list of Emergency Child Care sites in Oxford County can be found here.


Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock in outbreak status for COVID-19

All three Woodingford Lodge sites are in COVID-19 outbreak status. Woodingford Lodge sites remained closed to general visitors under the Government of Ontario's temporary measures for all long-term care homes. 


Oxford County Library returning to curbside service

Effective January 5, all 14 branches of Oxford County Library will be open for curbside service only. This means:

  • No in-person browsing at library branches.
  • Materials and resources must be reserved for pick-up by calling or emailing your local branch, reserving online at www.ocl.net, or emailing curbsidebooks@ocl.net. Before arriving to pick up your items, patrons are asked to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms, wear a 3-ply mask, and stay at least six feet (2 metres) apart from others.
  • Items can be returned to library drop boxes at any time.

Oxford County Waste Management Facility to close Saturdays

Starting January 8, the Waste Management Facility will be temporarily closed on Saturdays to all customers for 21 days, or longer if the provincial Modified Step Two is extended. The facility will remain open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 

EarlyON Child and Family Centres pausing outdoor activities

EarlyON is pausing its Outdoor Adventurer programs for the month of January. In the meantime, EarlyON is increasing Virtual Village programs to offer more opportunities to connect from the comfort of homes. For more information visit the Oxford EarlyON website or follow on Facebook.

  

Archives open for virtual service only

Oxford County Archives has paused in-person access to collections while Ontario is under Modified Step Two of the Roadmap to Reopen. Archives staff is available to respond to reference questions remotely at archives@oxfordcounty.ca. To access the County’s online research resources visit www.oxfordcounty.ca/archives.



County Council meeting virtually in January

The January 12 and January 26 County Council meetings will be held virtually under Ontario's Modified Step Two. Council meetings are broadcast live online at www.oxfordcounty.ca/livestream. The January 12 meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. and the January 26 meeting at 7:00 p.m.

Provincial Offences Courts continue through audio and video appearance (Zoom) only. There will be no in-person court appearances until further notice. If you have requested a trial on a Part I matter (ticket) the trial will be scheduled by Zoom video appearance.
