Long-Term Care

Woodingford Lodge is an Oxford County owned and operated, not-for-profit, long-term care facility providing personal and health care services to residents.

The Kindness in Action program encourages Woodingford residents to give back by engaging in meaningful community involvement. This program offers meaningful opportunities for our residents to connect with and contribute to their community, enhancing their sense of purpose and well-being.

Kindness in Action offers various opportunities for volunteering and community outreach both inside and outside the home:

  • Resident-led recreation programs, assisting maintenance
  • Tasks to engage residents in their home: Watering the garden, rolling silverware, setting tables, assisting in the café, visiting and helping co-residents, welcoming new residents and palliative care visits.
  • Volunteering for Charity drives, food banks
  • Crafting, knitting and baking groups
  • Cooking or baking for shelters and local community partners
  • Hosting events with community partners
  • Special holiday events, such as wrapping Christmas gifts and sponsoring families in need

Residents can lead and participate in engaging activities, host teach-and-learn sessions and provide peer-to-peer support. Volunteering is a great way to encourage our residents to share their hidden skills and talents with the world.

Community collaboration is a key part of the Kindness in Action program. If you have ideas for volunteer opportunities where we can collaborate, or if you would like to learn more about the program, do not hesitate to contact Jenn Kairies at jkairies@oxfordcounty.ca.

The Family Transition Program at Woodingford Lodge is dedicated to supporting the Oxford County community.

This first-of-its-kind program includes two distinct services designed to support community members preparing for permanent long-term care placement. The program aims to decrease emergency department visits, enhance caregiving support, and promote aging in place wherever possible.
