Multi-residential collections

Curbside garbage and recycling collection is available for multi-residential buildings if the following conditions are met:

  • Tagged garbage bags, blue boxes or recycling totes are brought to the municipal curb for 7:00 a.m. on collection day.
  • The property owner is responsible for removing and disposing of any uncollected material.

Recycling in an apartment has never been easier!
Buildings with more than six (6) units qualify to join our recycling program. With assistance from Waste Diversion Ontario and Stewardship Ontario, we:

  • Provide discount prices for 95 gallon recycling totes (while supplies last)
  • Give each resident a free apartment recycling bin when apartment buildings sign up with the program and comply with program guidelines (while supplies last)
  • Provide educational materials so you can learn more about recycling in apartment buildings or condos

If your building does not have a recycling program, let us know. Together, we can make recycling accessible to everyone.

Can my building receive private property collection?
Private property collection may be available to you if:

  • Upon review by the County of Oxford and in consultation with the waste collection contractor, it is deemed that the private roadways to be used by the collection vehicles are physically satisfactory.
  • Review Oxford County's Entry onto Private Property for Waste Collection Service Provision Operations Policy and execute the required Private Property Indemnity Agreement.
  • Contact the County of Oxford to arrange a time for a site visit.

Oxford County does not provide garbage bin service. To obtain this service, please contact a local waste management company. You can find vendors by searching online or using the Yellow Pages online or print directory.

Industrial, commercial & institutional services

Businesses located on an existing residential collection route are able to participate in the curbside collection program as long as they meet the following set-out requirements:

  • garbage tagged with bag tags;
  • cardboard broken down and bundled;
  • blue box materials separated into fibres and containers; and,
  • set outs not exceeding 20 kg.

Oxford County’s waste management program works with Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (IC&I) customers to provide services that help them reduce the amount of waste they send to landfill. The Ontario Ministry of the Environment requires the Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (IC&I) sector to do their part to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible.

For more information and resources, visit the Ministry Of The Environment's IC&I Waste Reduction website

The Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (IC&I) sector is NOT allowed to participate in the waste collection events held 2 times a year throughout the County. Due to legal requirements this service is only available to the residential sector. The Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (IC&I) sector is encouraged to utilize the County's specialty recycling depots located at the Oxford County Waste Management Facility (landfill).

Oxford County is taking steps to support our community's response to COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) and measures taken by Southwestern Public Health. We are monitoring our operations daily to ensure we are taking the right actions to protect our residents, employees and visitors. Get updates at
