Child Care Wage Enchancement/Home Child Care Enhancement Grant

As outlined in the 2020 Ontario Child Care Management and Funding Guidelines, the Ontario Government has made an ongoing commitment to support a wage enhancement for eligible child care professionals working in licensed child care settings.

Wage Enhancement/Home Child Care Enhancement Grant (HCCEG) funding will help to retain RECEs and support access to stable, high quality child care programs for children in Ontario.

The 2020 wage enhancement grant will continue to support an increase of up to $2.00 per hour plus 17.5% benefits for eligible centre-based staff and home visitors. The HCCEG will support an increase of up to $20 per day in 2020 for eligible home child care providers contracted with a licensed home child care agency.

The wage enhancement goals include:

  • Close the wage gap between RECE’s working in the education sector and licensed child care sectors
  • Stabilize licensed child care operators by helping them to retain RECEs/child care staff
  • Support greater employment and income security
