Fines & Provincial Offences
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has started a national strike that will cause service delays for Oxford Country Provincial Offences. Canada Post’s operations will be shut down for the duration of the national strike. Oxford County Provincial Offences clients are encouraged to use the electronic options available to make payments, file requests and documents, and to contact Provincial Offences team members.
The Chief Justice of Ontario has issued an order extending timelines within the Provincial Offences Act. For more information, please visit ontariocourts.ca or contact Oxford County POA.
Provincial Offences Court appearances
Provincial Offences Courts have resumed (early resolutions, trials, set date, adjournments, etc.). These matters are able to proceed by remote appearance using Zoom (telephone or website/app) appearance or in-person appearance.
Summons – Part III – Thursdays
If you have received a summons to appear in Provincial Offences Court, you may choose to appear remotely (telephone or website/app) using the Zoom connection information below or in-person at the Oxford County Provincial Offences located at 419 Hunter Street in Woodstock.

If you are appearing remotely using Zoom, please review the User Guide and Best Practices for Remote Hearings in Provincial Offences Courts prior to your remote appearance date.
Please note - Section 136 of the Courts of Justice Act makes it an offence to take a photograph, or make a video or audio recording, of a court proceeding, unless prior judicial authorization has been granted.

| Oxford County’s Provincial Offences Administration (POA) is responsible for accepting POA fine payments, enforcing defaulted fines, scheduling trials and early resolution meetings, and final transcript preparation. |
Paying your fine

Ticket Options
Due to the ongoing labour disruption at Canada Post, the Chief Justice of Ontario has issued an order extending timelines within the Provincial Offences Act. For more information, please visit ontariocourts.ca or contact Oxford County POA.
Option 2 – Early Resolution :
Early Resolution - provides you an opportunity to speak to a Prosecutor to review the evidence to determine if there is an appropriate resolution for your matter. If you are unable to reach a resolution you may then schedule a trial if you want to pursue the matter. To proceed with Option 2, use the online filing option to request an Early Resolution meeting. The online option is located at https://www.ontario.ca/page/check-status-traffic-tickets-and-fines-online-or-request-meeting-resolve-your-case#. Please allow 10-14 days from the date of the offence for the ticket to appear on the online system.
Option 3 - Trial - By selecting the Trial Option your matter will proceed directly to trial. The matter will be scheduled based on the enforcement officer's availability to ensure that they are present the day of trial. If you want to proceed with Option 3, complete the Notice of Intention to Appear or clearly indicate your intention to proceed to trial on the reverse of the ticket and in body of email (if filing electronically). The Notice of Intention to Appear/Trial Request may be filed using one of the options below:
- Email a scan (pdf) of the front and back of the ticket and email to poa@oxfordcounty.ca A jpeg (photo) will not be accepted. Clearly indicate your intention to proceed to trial on the reverse side of the ticket and in the body of the email.
- In-Person at Oxford County Provincial Offences Administration, 419 Hunter Street, Woodstock, ON N4S 4G5 (entrance off Graham St.).

If the fine goes into default, an administrative fee will be added, and steps will be taken to enforce the defaulted fine. For example, information may be provided to a consumer reporting agency and for certain offences, including speeding, your driver’s licence may be suspended.
For after-hours filings there is a Drop Box located at the Provincial Offences main entrance 419 Hunter Street, Woodstock, ON N4S 4G5 (do NOT place cash payments in the Drop Box).
Documents, such as, Applications for Extension of Time to Pay Fine, Reopening Applications, Motions etc., may be filed electronically by sending a scan (pdf) of the documents to poa@oxfordcounty.ca or in-person at the Provincial Offences Administration – 419 Hunter St., Woodstock, ON N4S 4G5 (entrance off Graham St. ).
Going to Court
Provincial Offences Courts have resumed (early resolutions, trials, set date, adjournments, etc.). These matters can proceed by Zoom (audio or video) appearance or in-person appearance.
The Ontario Court of Justice recognizes the need to offer remote and in-person court options for parties and participants in POA proceedings to ensure access to justice is maintained.
Oxford County Provincial Offences Court has expanded the use of technology in the courtroom. The Oxford County Provincial Offences Court uses Zoom for remote appearances. The use of Zoom allows defendants to appear by video or audio on their scheduled appearance date. See information at top of page on how to attend a Zoom appearance.

| Request disclosure |

If you plan on requesting a trial or an early resolution, you have the right to request disclosure in the case. Disclosure is a copy of the evidence that has been collected to prosecute your case. It is given to you as it is your constitutional right to know the evidence that will be used against you. The prosecutor’s office will provide disclosure, which may include a copy of the officer’s notes, witness statements, and/or accident reports if they are applicable to your charge. To request disclosure, email disclosure@oxfordcounty.ca. You must include your offence number, your full name and the date you are to appear for Early Resolution or Trial. Please allow 30 days for your disclosure request to be processed. If your court date is less than 30 days from the date of your request for disclosure you are not guaranteed to receive disclosure prior to your appearance date. |

Under no circumstance will the Prosecutor or any Provincial Offences employee give you legal advice about the rules of the court, conduct of your case, the probability of your success, or the consequences of conviction. It is recommended that you obtain your own legal representation or advice. There is no free Duty Counsel for Provincial Offences. |
