Mt. Elgin outdoor water restrictions

Mt. Elgin restrictions on outside water use

Oxford County is restricting outside water use for lawns and gardens in Mt. Elgin to ensure our water reserves can support daily household use. Until further notice, customers may only use a sprinkler to water lawns or gardens from 6-9 a.m. and 6-9 p.m. one day per week according to the last digit of their municipal street address:

0 or 1 – outside water use allowed on Mondays
2 or 3 – outside water use allowed on Tuesdays
4 or 5 – outside water use allowed on Wednesdays
6 or 7 – outside water use allowed on Thursdays
8 or 9 – outside water use allowed on Fridays

Hand watering of flower pots, vegetable gardens and trees during your normal odd/even day and times is acceptable. Hoses may not be left unattended.

Hot, dry weather can push Oxford County's water systems to their limit. If everyone cuts back a little now, we can help avoid watering bans in our communities.
