Public Notice - Notice of Commencement - Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study, Woodstock
Upstream Northeast Trunk Sewer Upgrades, Woodstock
Oxford County has initiated a Schedule B Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) Study for trunk sanitary sewer improvements (refer to map) extending from Lansdowne Avenue to Lakeside Estates, adjacent to and south of Pittock Reservoir / Thames River. The sewer is situated within an existing County easement between residential development and a forested area within Upper Thames River Conservation Authority lands.
The purpose of the Class EA Study is to consider wastewater collection system upgrade alternatives in order to determine the most appropriate sewer design and alignment alternative in order to meet existing and future wastewater flow demands. The impacts of the alternatives on the social, cultural, natural, and economic environment will be evaluated and assessed during the Study.
This notice signals the commencement of the Municipal Class EA Study, a study which will define the problem, identify and evaluate alternative solutions, and develop a preferred design for the corridor in consultation with adjacent property owners, regulatory agencies, indigenous communities, members of the local business community and the public.
The Class EA Study is being carried out in accordance with the planning and design process for Schedule B projects as outlined in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.
Consultation with Stakeholders (public, indigenous communities, and agencies) is a key component of the Study process and input will be sought throughout the Study. A Public Consultation Centre (PCC) is anticipated to be held in fall, 2019. Details regarding the forthcoming PCC will be advertised as the Study progresses. Upon completion of the study, a Project File Report (PFR) will be prepared and made available for final public review and comment.
