Three new tourism experiences launch in Oxford County

Unique small group experiences offer intimate, immersive and hands-on activities that allow a glimpse into the world of Oxford County’s artisans and creators


After launching several successful tourism “experiences” in 2018, Tourism Oxford is adding three new unique experiences for 2019. This addition will allow visitors a glimpse into a total of 6 experiences that will immerse them into the world of Oxford County’s local artisans and creators.

Experiential tourism brings small groups of visitors together for an intimate, immersive experiences where they see firsthand the passion behind what our local artisans and creators do. Visitors do not just watch, but actually take part in hands-on learning and fun. Insights, “ah ha!” moments and inspiration for applying new ideas on their own are just some of the takeaways from these unique experiences.

Oxford County was selected to host Unlocked and Inspired Experiential Tourism training by Southwest Ontario Tourism Corporation in 2018.

Background

These new experiences are the result of theUnlocked and Inspired: Experiential Tourism Trainingoffered by the Southwest Ontario Tourism Corporation(SWOTC)with experience coach Celes Davar. In 2017 Tourism Oxford employees attended the trainingand saw theimpact and potential firsthand.When SWOTC announced a call for host community proposals, Oxford County applied and wasselected as a host. Since then, Tourism Oxford has been working with local artisans and businesses to develop one-of-a-kind tourism experiences here in Oxford County.
