Grand opening and open house of new net-zero Oxford County Waste Management & Education Centre

Cutting edge, net-zero energy facility marks another step towards achieving 100% renewable energy


Members of the public are invited to join Warden David Mayberry, Oxford County CAO Peter Crockett, and Oxford County Director of Public Works David Simpson for the ribbon cutting ceremony and open house to celebrate the new Oxford County Waste Management & Education Centre.

Warden Mayberry, Peter Crockett and David Simpson will cut a ribbon to officially mark the grand opening of the new Oxford County Waste Management & Education Centre.

Bypass the scale house by entering on the south side. An attendant will be onsite to provide further assistance.

Oxford County Waste Management & Education Centre Save the Date

Background

The new Oxford County Waste Management & Education Centre is a net-zero energy facility that uses an energy efficient building envelope and solar photovoltaic panels to completely offset the energy use of both the building and the rest of the landfill site. A real-world example of how buildings can be sustainably constructed and operated, the Education Centre includes demonstrations, resources and information to educate and inspire further sustainability initiatives.
