The Baby-Friendly Initiative (BFI) was launched by WHO and UNICEF in 1991 as a global effort to implement practices that protect, promote and support breastfeeding. More than 152 countries around the world are now participating. There are ten steps for community health services to become certified as "Baby-Friendly."
Oxford County Public Health achieved our "Baby-Friendly" designation in January 2014. We provide women and their families with information so they can make an informed choice about feeding their babies. We have a Parents’ Guide To The Policy On Breastfeeding
